Recycle: Why?

What is a secondary raw material (SRM)?

Secondary Raw Material (SRM) is material that comes from recycling and which has undergone a transformation so as to replace, partially or totally, initial raw material, referred to as virgin material. Very much appreciated by manufacturers from an economic point of view (the purchase price is lower than that of virgin raw material), the SRMs allow many companies to use the waste and quality rejects to reintroduce them in their production chain after they have been recycled. In addition to the economic aspect, the secondary raw materials play a significant role within the environment: there is less industrial waste, therefore less pollution.

What are the various plastics?

Thermoplastic polymers are materials that become soft under the action of heat and harden irreversibly when cooled. They are widely used by the industrial sectors (automobile, food, cosmetics…), on the one hand due to economic concerns: they are generally inexpensive, but also due to environmental concerns.

Thermoplastics are largely recyclable. Today, they make up most of the packaging!
